Mother’s Day Buffet a HUGE Success!

The annual Mother’s Day Buffet was a huge success!  We served over 230 people and everyone seemed to really enjoy the meal and seeing their family and friends!  A GREAT BIG THANK YOU too the many volunteers that showed up to help the event run smoothly!  Our Members and spouses, and their volunteer efforts exemplify that:

Youth Week Proclamation

Each Year the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks designates the first week of May as a time to draw focus on our commitment to support of our Youth.   Grand Exalted Ruler John D. Amen, has requested all Local Lodges set aside May 1-7, 2015, as Elks National Youth Week. Pictured below are members of Shenandoah Elks Lodge #1122 witnessing the Mayor, Richard Hunt signing the proclamation designating May 1 thru May 7 as Elks National Youth Week here in Shenandoah.  Attendees were Club Manager Doug McElroy, Mayor Richard Hunt, Chaplain Robert Iske, Loyal Knight Matt Livingston, Grand Lodge Esquire designate Ken Swank, Exalted Ruler Dennis DeWild and Mike Kirsch.

Congratulations President Roger McQueen!

Congratulation to President Roger McQueen and our First Lady Julie McQueen.  Roger was installed as President of the Iowa Elks Association at its annual Spring Convention in Des Moines, Iowa on April 25, 2015.  Roger will serve for the 2015 – 2016 Lodge year, and represent our state association at its annual Grand Lodge convention in Indianapolis, Indiana in July.

Iowa Home of the 8 – 9 year old National Champion

Bryce Bolio , a 3rd grader, from 4 Mile Elementary, Pleasant Hill, Iowa recently won the Elks national free throw shooting competition for 8 – 9 year olds when he made 34 out of 35!  Bryce had advanced to the national finals of the Elks Hoop Shoot this month in Springfield, MA by competing at his school level, Lodge level, district level, state level, regional level and national level. National winners get their name engraved on a plaque at the basketball hall of fame.  Bryce was sponsored by the Des Moines #98 Elks Lodge!  Congratulations Bryce, job well done!  We are proud of you and your accomplishment!
